Shameless (U.S.) is an American comedy-drama series adapted by John Wells based upon the British series of the same title.
The show aired on Showtime at 9/8c. This remake of the award-winning British series is set in Chicago's Canaryville neighborhood on the South Side, although filmed in Los Angeles, with the exterior scenes filmed in Chicago. Spanning a total of one hundred and thirty-two episodes out of eleven seasons of a mere twelve episodes each. The runtime is 44-56 minutes per episode as shown on Netflix.
Plot[]
The series depicts the dysfunctional family of the Gallaghers who live in the South Side of Chicago, Illinois, United States. The show stars Franklin "the Plank" Gallagher, a single father of five children; one of which who is later revealed to be his illegitimate nephew. While he spends his days drunk and/or blacked out, his children all learn to take care of themselves through their lives from being a toddler, to preteens, teenagers, to young adulthood.
Production[]
The series premiered on January 9, 2011 and was renewed for a second season. The show's second season premiered January 8, 2012. The series was renewed for a third season on February 1, 2012. The third season premiered on January 13, 2013, and on January 29, 2013, Shameless was renewed for a fourth season. Season 4 premiered January 12, 2014. On February 18, 2014, the series was renewed for a fifth season, which premiered on January 11, 2015.
The series was renewed for a sixth season on January 12, 2015, when it premiered on January 10, 2016. Shameless was renewed for a seventh season on January 12, 2016. Season 7 premiered on October 2, 2016. Season 8 was confirmed on December 14, 2016.
Season 8 premiered on November 5, 2017 and ran until January 28, 2018. Renewal for Season 9 was announced on November 8, 2017 and premiered September 9, 2018. Season 10 was confirmed on January 31, 2019.
