Shameless was renewed for a sixth season on January 12, 2015, with it set to premiere in 2016.

  • Season six of Shameless picks up a few months after last year's finale, leaving the Gallaghers to prepare for yet another long Chicago winter*
  • Cameron Monaghan explaining that because Mickey, Ian ex on-screen lover, is “in prison for attempted murder,” it will be “hard to keep him heavily involved” in Season 6. “It [also] may be an interesting time for Ian to discover how important Mickey was in his life” *

  • Will Sasso has booked a recurring role on Showtime dramedy Shameless.He will play Yanis, a big and imposing blue collar Chicago neighbor of Kev (Steve Howey) and V (Shanola Hampton), who’s in a conflict with the new members of the neighborhood who are part of the gentrification.He deliberately spends most of the day revving his motorcycle and making sexual threats. 
  • Carradine (24, Major Crimes) will play Erica and appear in a four-episode arc. Erica is described as an exhausted, nice, suburban mother in her late 30s with terminal cancer. Later, we learn that she has a secret wild past.  
  • Brochu, most recently seen in CW drama “The Vampire Diaries,” will play a 20-year-old wrestler named Dylan, who is introduced on the long-running series after getting into a physical altercation with Jeremy Allen White’s character, Lip.

When I was talking to Cameron Monaghan about his Gotham send-off, I was sure to ask if we have not seen the last of Noel Fisher, who plays Mickey to his Ian on the Showtime series. Monaghan chuckled and then teased, “I don’t think you’ll wait long to see a really nice scene that he has. I won’t say what it is, but it’s a really nice scene.” *
