Santiago is Kevin and Veronica's foster child in the ninth season of the US version of Shameless. Kev and V decide to foster a boy, but realise that the waiting list for newborns is too long, and so they decide to take in an older child.
He is an illegal immigrant from Guatemala who was held in custody by ICE after he was separated from the rest of his family. He does not speak any English, except for being able to (beautifully) sing the U.S. National Anthem. He is told by his father that he needs to work hard in America to earn his stay. During his time living in the Fisher-Ball household he works at The Alibi. In the episode Los Diablos he is reunited with his sister, Martina, and it is revealed that his father had been deported back to Guatemala and so the two siblings meet up with their uncle and it is presumed that he is reunited with his family.
