Missy Doty was born on August 9, 1972, in Cincinnati, Ohio. She grew up in Springdale, Ohio and graduated from Princeton High School in 1990. She also attended Stephens College where she received a BFA in Musical Theater.


Pursuing a career in acting throughout the 90s, Missy began playing several minor roles in a number of television programs, for example in Law & Order: Criminal Intent and Ally McBeal.

Missy became well-recognized with her performance in the dark dramedy film Sideways, playing the minor, yet crucial role of Cammi, the waitress with whom a main character, Jack, copulates before getting caught in flagrante delicto by her cuckholded husband.

Missy has a recurring role as Jess, a lesbian bartender at The Alibi Room on the Showtime show Shameless.

In 2013, Missy played Noel, main character David's ex-girlfriend, in the highly acclaimed film, Nebraska.
