In Frank Gallagher: Loving Husband, Devoted Father, Kermit makes his first appearance by arriving at the Gallagher House, where he returns Frank's stuff to Fiona. He explains that he is a friend of Frank's, which surprises Fiona who didn't know her father still had a friend.
In A Bottle of Jean Nate, he refuses to help Frank get rid of his abusive mother.
When watching Frank on television, he and Tommy makes jokes about his sexuality after his speech.
During Hope Springs Eternal, Kermit reveals to Kev on the many guns he owns and recommends that he get more.
In The Legend of Bonnie & Carl, Kermit is invited to the Jackson House by Frank's eldest daughter Sammi to help make Frank's last days great. He enjoys the sight of Frank drinking a non-alcoholic drink and makes jokes about Kev's recent purchase while Frank is happy at the bar being brought to him.
In Liver, I Hardly Know Her, he was the officiator for Frank and Sheila's wedding and was surprised when the staff take Frank to give him his new liver.
During Hiraeth, he is at the Alibi where he converse with Kev, V, and Svetlana. He watches Svetlana show great skill in math and is impressed by it. He soon witnesses Frank's return after he disappeared for a month, he sees Frank in a wheelchair and questions him on this. Kermit learns of Frank being in a coma and his wheelchair is temporary until he recovers. Kermit then watches Frank curse Kev, V, and Svetlana once he recalls them throwing him in a river.

During You Sold Me the Laundromat, Remember?, he is present as a pantsless Frank runs in asking for a drink. Kermit and Tommy laugh at this before they watch as Frank doesn't argue with Svetlana about paying for drinks and his tab they are surprised by this, asking what happened. They are told to be quiet by Frank since he is now at a low state.
Kermit is a recurring character in this season, he is one of the few people put off by Frank's change. He is more or less confused by his actions and tries to help him with being accustomed to new things. He asks Frank for insulin while overhearing of his impromptu trip to Canada, thus revealing the fact that he is diabetic
He and Tommy recommend that Frank join Hobo Loco.
In This is Chicago!, he got very high from weed brownies and weed gummies that Kev and V made. While in the bathroom, he and Tommy hooked up.
As seen in Go Home, Gentrifier!, Tommy and Kermit are now uncomfortable around the other. As a result, the two distance themselves from each other and refused to talk about what happened, when the others notice this.
