"God Bless Her Rotting Soul" is the third episode in the eighth season of the US version of Shameless. It originally aired on November 19, 2017 on Showtime.
Synopsis[]
A violent meth dealer threatens the Gallaghers, forcing Ian, Carl, Lip and Debbie to find a way to pay him off without involving Fiona. In the meantime, Fiona battles it out with a vindictive tenant; Lip cares for a down-and-out Professor Youens; and Frank - miraculously - attains something resembling sainthood.
Plot[]
The Gallagher realize they have no options but to go to Fiona for help and explain what happened after they are attacked by thugs led by a man named Eric Stark who owned some of the meth and threaten the family for his money. Fiona states she will help but has her siblings apologize for not listening to her about following a plan their crazy parents thought was a good idea. All of them except Carl do so, since he didn't see what was wrong with using what was his even if it didn't go right. Carl then tells his sister to stop her gloating and help out because she would be in danger too with Eric. Frank and Liam arrive at the apartment with Frank stating he has experienced guilt and volunteers for helping them as Fiona has him use his job to get tools for them.
The Gallagher family go to the cemetery where they are forced to dig up Monica, since Fiona put her and Liam's share of meth in the ground with her. They are disgusted to find her corpse, something that causes Carl to admit Fiona was right and get the drugs along with their money.
The Gallaghers soon arrive at the storage unit where they meet Eric and give him his drugs as well as the money they had on them. Carl also offers up his hot tub since that might earn more money but Eric states its still not enough and threatens them again at gunpoint. As Fiona and Lip quickly protect their siblings, Frank steps in and speaks to Eric. He tells Eric everything the family just went through that night and with Monica's death before he tells him to accept the money he got. The Gallaghers watch intently as Frank stares Eric down and threatens him with the same fate as Monica if he ever comes near or harms his family again, before he asks if they are understood. Intimidated, Eric agrees to the terms while the Gallagher children are amazed by their father's act and he opens the storage doors to lead them out of the unit. Fiona praises her father for his actions while calling him Francis as he accepts her gratitude with a smile and wrapping his arm around her as they leave.
Afterwards, Ian buries his mother while Fiona puts Mel in her place after confronting her over her recent lies to a potential tenant. Frank continues his job and Eric claims the hot tub that Carl promised him.
