Frank Gallagher: Loving Husband, Devoted Father is the seventh episode of the first season of Shameless.

Plot

Desperate to come up with a plan to pay two goons looking for the $6000 that he owes, Frank stumbles onto a risky solution that might work -- if his family goes along with it.

Synopsis

A meat truck driver asks Lip and Ian to watch his broken down truck while he goes to call for assistance. Lip and Ian call their family and friends, who empty the truck of its contents.

Frank still has not payed back the men that he owes $6000 to. Fiona discovers that Frank has also been committing credit card fraud using the children's identities. Frank tries to get the money by pawning a stolen watch and robbing a woman using an ATM. The woman recognizes Frank and is not intimidated.

Mickey shoplifts from the Kash and Grab and steals Kash's gun when Kash pulls it on Mickey. Linda hires a company to install security cameras in the store due to the continued shoplifting.

Steve, wanting to ease Fiona's responsibilities so they can go out together, leaves Liam with Sheila for the day. V encourages Fiona to go along with Steve's plans.

Ian goes to the Milkovich house to retrieve the gun. Mickey is not home, but Ian digs around in his room. Mandy convinces Ian to leave because Mickey will be mad.

V and Kev are approved for a foster child. Kev wants a child of their own, so V convinces him to "rent before they buy" with the foster child.

Sheila obsesses over Liam while she watches over him, but he eventually wanders out the front door. Sheila tries to overcome her agoraphobia, but is unable to leave the house to get him until she ties a series of sheets together, connecting her to the inside of the house.

Fiona and Steve go to a hotel for the night. Steve knows a hotel employee and uses this connection to gain access to the honeymoon suite that had been reserved for a couple whose wedding was called off after the bride saw the groom on To Catch a Predator. Fiona and Steve order room service, charging the expense to the couple's card. At night, the two skinny dip in the hotel pool.

Frank convinces Carl, Debbie, and Lip to fake Frank's death to avoid repaying his debt. Debbie gives the dry cleaner some of the stolen meat in exchange for a suit, Lip and Kev carjack a hearse, and V and Frank purchase black market drugs to make Frank appear dead.

Kash and Ian try to reposition the security camera so they can have sex in the storage room again. They believe they are successful and have sex, during which time the camera reverts to its initial position, capturing the affair.

Ian once again goes to the Milkovich house to retrieve the gun. He finds a crowbar on the porch and uses it to wake up Mickey and demand the gun back. Mickey punches Ian in the eye and the two wrestle, resulting in Mickey sitting on top of Ian with the crowbar in his hand. Mickey drops the crowbar and the two have sex. Later, Terry walks through Mickey's room to use the bathroom. On his way out, he notices Mickey and Ian in bed without clothes and tells them to put on clothes, unaware that they just had sex. While Ian is putting his clothes back on, Mickey tosses the gun on the bed, giving it to Ian. Ian moves toward Mickey, who tells him, "You kiss me, I cut your fucking tongue out."

The men that Frank owes money stop by the Alibi and Kev tells them that Frank overdosed and died. Fiona and Steve return to the house and see the hearse parked out front. They walk inside and Debbie informs them of the plan. Frank goes on a self-righteous rant, and Steve punches him, knocking him out. The family puts Frank in a casket. The men that Frank owes money to walk in. One of the men thinks the family is lying and slaps Frank. The other calls their boss, who directs them to stay with the body till it is buried. Carl throws a bowling ball through the man's car window, prompting the men to go outside. The family replaces Frank with some of the stolen meat and carry the casket out to the hearse.

Linda asks Kash to look at the security film with her and asks if he notices that the camera position is different. Kash says no, but then Linda shows him the part where Kash and Ian come into frame while having sex. Ian then walks into the store, apparently at Linda's request, and Linda slaps him. Linda tells Kash that she won't tell his mother, but Kash cannot have sex with Ian until he gets her pregnant again. Linda tells Ian that he's not fired, but that he can do better than Kash. Ian puts the gun on the counter and leaves.

Sheila reminisces on Karen's childhood, evidently longing for the days before her agoraphobia kicked in. She flushes her pills down the toilet.

The family holds a wake for Frank at the Alibi. Kev says that he hopes the afterlife treats Frank as well as he treated the family while he was alive. The men that Frank owes money to leave, and Frank appears from hiding. Everyone in the bar celebrates the plan's success. Frank, now drunk, falls into a new television in the Alibi, breaking it.
